HA. I wondered, when we got the "super" music the other week for "no reason." But really, I'm not laughing (that much) because, yes, DEAN.
Hit my tag or my site for my stuff. And I can e-mail you the gen recs that I've been sending everyone. Another easy place to point you is the gen category of the SPN fic awards, but the nominations closed over a month ago, so they're a bit out of date now. This fandom, for all the incest you hear about, produces an amazing amount of really seriously good gen.
until he became the cockiest, dorkiest ghostbuster in Woobieville, I did not find him hot like burning.
For all I heard blah blah blah Sam, before the summer, every single person I've talked to who has been converted this summer has been converted by/for Dean (or possibly his father). WTF!
They know how to cater to the too-old-for-this-emo-crap crowd. (For all values of having been too old for that crap when you were 12.)
Since I got sucked in (for almost exactly the same reasons), I've been working my way backwards through trollprincess's gen stuff and fic recs. I also really like the stuff deannie writes, particularly Lies and Promises.
I may need to do a recs post now, you've got me all thinky about it. *g*
I'm not well read in the fandom, as I've mostly gone off recs from my flist, but my two favourite fics I've read thus far would be:
The Thousand Ways to Bleed by Lithium Doll, which was one of the yuletide fics is just outstanding. I'd categorise it as gen, even though there's a bit of blink and you'll miss it Sam/Dean.
Halo (In Reverse) by poisontaster which is Dean-centric and although there is lots of sex, there are no pairings. It takes the Dean hustling/whoring for cash route and weaves it into a damn good story that huuurts, in the good way.
guede_mazaka also has some niiiice plotty gen fics written in her memories, that I feel really capture the feel of the show and keep things smart and witty.
Dude, seriously. He always was exceedingly pleasing to the eye, but until he became the cockiest, dorkiest ghostbuster in Woobieville, I did not find him hot like burning.

I cannot accurately convey how much I love that description of Dean. *glee*
DAMN, that is a perfect description of Teh Dean. Yummy.
No Dean icon (as yet), but I do have me a wee Oklahoman. Also, ask sathinks for fic - she and luluminion and smonsterbite were responsible for luring me into SPN fandom.
