Alfred Watkins _The Old Straight Track_ is a fascinating book. I don't think I agree with all of this conclusions - the linguistic ones in particular are a little shaky - but I think he was onto something; his assertions have resonated with things I have seen in the landscape.

I've often thought it would be a good idea to read it through with a map of the area. Maybe I shall! :D
