Tables

I want to make a fic table. I've seen it done on others' journals, and it seems to be good for inspiration. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing this... do friends contribute prompt words or do you just pick them yourself ( Read more... )

table, question, oc fic, inspiration

For Example, here is the code for a 10 word table, minus the asteriks.

<*center*><*table border=2 cellpadding=5 cellspacing=1*>

001.Evidence
002.I'm here
003.Funeral
004.Puppy love
005.Gloves

006.Blackboard
007.Muse
008.Magic
009.Clean
010.Secret

Just plug in your own words where the prompts are now, take out the asteriks and voila. Apparently, <*td> makes the beginning of a box, <*/td> makes the end of a box and <*tr> makes the beginning of a row and <*/tr> makes the end of a row and to close the table end it with <*/table>. That way you can tweak the size of your table to fit your own journal the way you want.

Does that help at all?

(Replying here because I tend to shy away from comms...)

Here is what this table will look like without the asteriks:

001.Evidence
002.I'm here
003.Funeral
004.Puppy love
005.Gloves

006.Blackboard
007.Muse
008.Magic
009.Clean
010.Secret

Thanks! I did it and it didn't work for some reason, I must have done something wrong (although I removed the asterixes).

I might just keep my prompts to myself and try to write. I looked up my words on the random word generator(thanks for the idea) although I cheated a bit because I didn't want to write a story based on the word 'protractor', lol.

You've almost got it - just take the spaces out where the asteriks (gah, I can't spell that word) were so the words are right beside the < and > and it should work.
