What kind of program are you using though? And mouse coloring or tablet? Asking because that'll make it easier to point you towards some awesome tutorials you might find interesting. Also, with some programs it's easy to clean up the scan first (like those black-toned spots in different places over the hair - I get they're meant to be either shimmers or drops, but once you start coloring, it's better to substitute that kind of effect, imo.)

I'm using PS CS5 (forgot to include that in the post, blah >_>), and a tablet. I don't know whether it's got pressure sensitivity or not, but I've heard that that'll help a great deal in colouring hair.

Ok, with a tablet you should definitely have pressure sensitivity. Easiest way to find out is just to open PS, get a blank canvas, pick a dark color and set the brush to 'airbrush pen opacity flow' - then just play around. You should get different results depending on the pressure you use on the tablet (and depending on its settings - but default setting should be medium.)

And lastly, don't start with this one ;), a more advanced tutorial, specifically for anime style.
There are literally tons of tutorials everywhere. The trick is just finding a few you like and not giving up trying out diffente styles, because your first tries will not yield immediate awesome results, but just keep at it. Practise makes the better coloring. A good program - ( ... )

I'll have to check the settings for the tablet again then. Because I remember fiddling around with it when I first got it, and the pressure now seems to be a bit off. A Wacom Bamboo Fun, if the model's all that relevant. (Actually wanted it to draw, but I had in mind the tablet that acts like a canvas where you draw on it and the picture comes out ON the tablet screen itself, like the Wacom Cintiq. But it's damn expensive. o.o) Airbrush pen opacity flow - have to remember that.
By the way, how would you say the hair colouring is? Just...threw in random colours and gaussian-blurred them. Didn't know what I was even doing. I was trying to get the look of fiendie's hair-colouring, but ehhh...
Oh, thank you very much! I'll most definitely take a look at those tutorials once I have the time! I am buried under tons of homework right now. >_> (One thing that I never ( ... )
