2. Fireworks
Fireworks were not an uncommon sight in early November, but Harry could see these were no ordinary fireworks. By the time he reached Sarah's house they had stopped, but he knew that was their source.

"What have you done now?"

"We just made fireworks," Sarah said, far too innocently for Harry's liking, but at least she let him in. "There's plenty of food." She indicated the pizzas in the kitchen. "Why don't you join us?"

He was hungry, so he did. Somehow between the food, three teenagers and Sarah's chatter, he never did find out what was in those fireworks.

52. Picture of barbecue

When he arrived at Sarah's house Harry was relieved to see she wasn't the one manning the barbecue. As much as it was traditional to eat burnt food at a barbecue, there was burnt and then there was charcoal. Besides, it was a man's job, which Clyde and Luke had taken on.

"We have to cook them exactly right," Luke said, "so they're just turning black."

Harry raised his eyebrows. Clyde gave him a long-suffering look. Biting back a smile, he said, "Very good," and decided to leave them to it and just enjoy the fruits of their labour later.

94. Author's choice - with the SJA kids
Once they'd cleared away the mess Harry found three shame-faced teenagers waiting patiently on top of the rubble. Harry allowed himself a brief moment to marvel at their patience given who they hung out with and then he asked, "Is anyone hurt?"

Shakes of the head and various "no"s told him that was something to be grateful for.

"I think," he said, "that Sarah wants a word with you."

He stepped aside to allow them to see her. She had her hands on her hips and a glare on her face that made Harry glad he wasn't in their shoes.

95. Author's choice - with Luke
"Is it a problem not having a father?" Luke asked.

Harry believed that children should have two parents, but he knew better than to say that to Luke. Sarah would probably hit him when she heard, for one thing.

"It would be useful growing up, to have someone to look up to and who you can ask questions of." But Luke was old enough now not to need that. "I'd say," he concluded with a smile, "that it's more of a problem having Sarah for a mother."

"I'll tell her you said that." But Luke smiled as he said it.

LYA prompt 20.2. A friend has been kidnapped and you're being blackmailed to do something you normally would never do. The usual. But it's okay, your friend is so irritating the kidnapper decides to return them rather than put up with them.
91. Author's choice
Harry knew better than to let himself be blackmailed. He still had contacts at UNIT and MI5, so Sarah's kidnappers weren't hard to track down. Although discovering they were aliens mafe it harder to keep MI5 out of it and let UNIT deal with it.

Just as Harry was despairing, Sarah asked what was going on.

Amazed to see her, Harry spun round and hugged her briefly. "What happened?" he asked. "What did you do to them?" He dreaded to think.

She grinned. "I complained. They were such chauvinists."

Harry laughed. He could just imagine what she put them through.
