Shortpacked!: I'm thankful for your mom.

Sure, Thursday is Thanksgiving, but Wednesday was new comic book day! Is it bad when the best thing about the comics I bought was the advertisement on the back cover of one of them?

Because this is comedy gold.

Hope you can see that.

Now I want to homage that X-Men cover too! I never realized its ( Read more... )

I can totally see Ronald Reagan as a gritty underground resistance leader. Picard I can see sipping tea and eating fancy cakes.

Shock of all shocks, not even Batman would be funnier than Picard. Batman isn't preposterous in this situation.

Other people possibly as funny as Jean-Luc Picard's standing in for Wolverine:

Mr. Belvedere
Jesus
The Trix rabbit
Grand Moff Tarkin
Stephen Colbert
Stanley the Talking Fish
A gorilla

Actually, let's back up. I'd pay good money to see the Trix rabbit guarding Lucky as they're both backed up against a spotlit wall with mugshots of various apprehended or deceased cereal mascots.

Cap'n Crunch: DECEASED
Sugar Bear: DECEASED
Buzz Bee: APPREHENDED
Toucan Sam: DECEASED
Count Chocula: APPREHENDED
Tony the Tiger: still at large
Snap: DECEASED
Crackle: APPREHENDED
Pop: APPREHENDED
Yummy Mummy: DECEASED

Have you ever seen the Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness version of that cover ?
Yeah, I know not the kind of humor you're looking for. I proclaim it to be noteworthy, though !

In any case, I have to praise today's Shortpacked!. Not only for the Straxus poster, but particularly for the work on the fourth panel. There's something very convincing and oddly "real" about it. Amber never seemed more like an actual person than in this panel. Very powerful.
