One generation ago, imports from China were exotic, high quality, painstakingly hand made and much sought after. Willow-ware dishes replicated Ming and other dynasty's attentiveness to detail and careful calligraphic painting techniques. After the construction for the Commonwealth crashed, bringing down India's image with it, I too have been musing on pride in one's work...and lack of it...I am partially guilty, I find. Some things....such as my posts or articles, I take a lot of trouble over, and make them perfect...other things (especially my housekeeping) I just let slide...but...if I wanted perfection in everything I do, it wouldn't be possible to have a reasonable life....no easy answers!

You got it all wrong.

The families of today Woeld over prefer to show off their status
in the society Coolness by flashing iPhones and iPads not dinner ceramic ware.
Guess what, they are Made in China.

If you really want Quality Chinese dishes for your daughter to play with
it is still available in fine stores in Shanghai and New York.
You just need to shop in the right place. You are not going to find
them in Walmart or your favourite Indian Grocery store!
