summary: She’s just feeling really free, kind of impulsive, as that seems to be the theme of the evening. After Leslie asks Ben to stay.
Leslie’s giggling, pushing Ben forward, too giddy to apologize for leading him into the door. They’re across the house from Orin before she can catch a breath, realizing that her hand’s in Ben’s, and even though they’ve slowed down, he’s still dragging her along behind him.
“He’s gone!” she announces triumphantly, tugging back to make him stop. She’s just feeling really free, kind of impulsive, as that seems to be the theme of the evening.
But as spirited as she may feel, she still isn’t ready for Ben to pull her to a secluded corner in the hallway and kiss her.
“Wha-” she starts, but it’s obviously muffled by his lips on hers, and she’s not exactly remembering all the crazy things she’s heard tonight but she’s feeling what they all mean, and before she realizes she’s grabbing the back of his neck and pulling him closer.
But this startles him a little and he breaks it off, laughing nervously, and in the midst of all this risk taking, he’s still Ben. And she sort of shuffles her feet, acutely aware of his hand wrapped around her waist, and she’s still Leslie. And she’s grinning, she just notices.
“That was, uh, a pro,” Ben stammers, looking at the floor.
“Huh?”
“A pro. On my pros and cons list. I just, you know. Thought if I was gonna stay…”
She’s already moved forward, thrown her arms around him, buried her face in his chest because she can’t stop smiling and feels like he’s trying to be serious and she doesn’t want to ruin it.
“I’d at least fulfill that one,” he finishes, laughing. “What are you doing?”
She shrugs and just stays there, against him. He’s wrapped his arms around her and it just feels nice, like some weird kind of closure for the evening, and holy crap she asked him to stay and he’s staying and they just kissed and…
“You kissed me,” she exclaims suddenly, looking up at him. His face goes a little red.
“Uh. Yeah.”
Her brow furrows for a second, she’s just thinking okay, this is happening fast. But then again, he’s been there for months, and she’s liked having him around for a while now, and she feels like she’s been waiting for something but she’s not really waiting anymore, and maybe it’s just because they’re at a wedding (even if she was against it) and there’s some kind of crazy Mouse Rat soundtrack to the moment, but she’s reaching back up to pull him toward her again, and well, why not roll some dice?
