It is living and she never lets herself forget how close she came to losing that, never forgets the call of the void as she fell away from him, into emptiness.

- This is a very, very good point, and beautifully put. I think that sometimes we forget what a near miss that was, and how much worse that would've been.

he is persistent, she discovered, even in memories.

- Poor Rose. I always imagine that she wouldn't be able to get him out of her head, that so much would remind her of her life with him.

instead of counting sheep, she counts the ways they might meet again.

- Oh, that's so pretty.

He taught her this, to hope even when everything feels hopeless.

- And what more could you ask for? I think that's probabley her ticket back to him, in the end.

She knows the hand she wants to hold.

I've been steering clear of many "Stolen Earth" fics after the influx of them in the past few days (which I contributed to, of course, hypocrite that I am), but this one is really, really lovely.
