I'm not a fan of Steinbeck in general but Grapes in Wrath is probably my least favorite of his works that I've read. I didn't appreciate what seemed to be Steinbeck's many seemingly pointless tangents. The big one I remember is what seemed like sixty pages about a turtle trying to cross the road. My friend and I actually got into trouble during that class discussion because we were laughing at it (is it not kind of funny in an ironic sort of way that one driver would swerve to avoid the turtle and the second driver would swerve to aim for the turtle?? we thought so).
I don't remember much about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but I think I probably appreciated it more than anything I had to read by Steinbeck.
