Doctor Whooooo

Jun 01, 2011 11:19

I have officially fallen hook line and sinker for Doctor Who- the only question is why it took me this long, really. Anyway, have some Who fanarts, expect more in the future. More gangly weird British men.

I'm still hesitant to get into the Who-niverse, partially because I worry I'll be way too lost trying to understand what the heck is going on unless I watch all of the previous shows from yesteryear, and also because it takes me a ridiculously long time to get into anything deemed "popular". It's like I have an alternate personality who is a TV-hipster and it only will watch things people have "probably never heard of". I know it's stupid, and yet it still took me until season 4 to start watching House.

I started with Season 1 (~2005) and marathoned the whole thing in a couple months. I've never seen any of the old old ones and it hasn't been confusing at all. They reveal the Doctor's history quite slowly so it's easy to follow along with(it is a family show, after all... somehow! American parents would cry and sue the network if they marketed it as a kids show here, i think!) It was instantly my favorite, though, I definitely suggest it!

I don't know who (new) you should follow on LJ-- there honestly has not been a lot of turnover. However, I would strongly suggest getting an account on FurAffinity. Even if you don't post, you can see what everyone else is doing (art-wise)and it's a quick and easy way to get in touch with people. You might even discover a bunch of great artists you hadn't known about.

(my username there is RGibson.)

Are there a lot of people on furaffinity that aren't on DA/tumblr/blogger?

Yes. That's one of the main reasons I went back. People stopped posting to those places and started exclusively posting there. I admit even I've been pretty lazy on keeping my LJ up to date with sketches.

I'm not on those sites so I can't say for sure, but I assume a lot (or most) of them are on everything. Wether they actually check, use and update the accounts is another thing altogether. I find FA a good one-stop place if you don't want to have to check a million different sites a day.

Oh good lord, that Tennant one is my new desktop, they're *gorgeous* arts!

LJ's really slow lately. I wish more artists used it like they used to, my flist rarely has anything on. I live on DA and Tumblr now for art. :(

LJ does seem slow lately. Even in people responding, it's strange. I keep wondering if I should move, but I just don't know where.
