Goodbye My Friend

It has been three days since my dear friend Tom left us behind. The past few days, and the weekend when Tom fell ill have been a cloud of emotions. I had just come back to Vancouver from visiting family in South Africa, and was so looking forward to catching up with my old friend, a habit of ours every time one of us returned from travelling. Tom told us that story of how he met you way back then - "way back then" for the likes of us, but about two seconds ago for someone with his long memory, I'm sure - when we visited Vancouver in 2008. For some reason, we didn't catch up with him when we passed through Vancouver on our road trip last November. Boy, do I regret that.
