Writer's Block: Dream On

Murder. I have recurring dreams about murder. It's almost always a murder I can't stop and is either about myself or somebody else. Unlike in the movies, however, the inevitability is no illusion. The person always dies either shortly before I wake up or I wake up before it happens but there is absolutely no doubt in my mind what happened after I ( Read more... )

A Jungian would say that this was a part of you at war with another part of yourself. One part trying to kill another one. (A Jungian would say that anything that happens in a dream is about the relationships between different parts of yourself.) The thing that has always happened in my dreams is my teeth falling out. I think that's a fairly common one. I always think it's happened.

That might be right. I am very judgmental of myself.

My dreams are interesting as hell, just screwed up lol.

No such thing as a screwed up dream, imo. It's all just information. I'm fascinated by them. (Please see 'Ploom Mountain' - the whole thing is about dreams!)

OMG... that must be so scary! Haha, I'm not going to go all psychological on you, but that's just freaky. How do you even sleep at night?

I used to feel stuck with my dreams a long time ago. Something might hunt me, or want to fight me and i'd be helpless.

But then when i was awake one day i decided that in my dreams i would fight back and imagine beating everything away. I think i may have imagined what i would have done differently in the dream.

Interestingly enough, most of the time i did fight back and i won easily.

Worth a try :)

Strangely enough though I don't want to change that. I mean sometimes I wake up terrified but it's really reflective of the way I see the world. I mean I think one of my strongest aspects as a writer and a person is how much I try to leave reality untainted by the way I want to see it or I should be seen. If a man is holding a gun and I'm without a weapon, technically I should lose and that's how I want to see it, you know?

I just think my dreams are tied too closely to my mind and changing it would mess something up if that makes sense. It probably doesn't.
