No, I don't think so. It's just the naming theme, they're all named after Anne Rice vampire's. I love Lestat. And Memnoch the Devil was my FAVOURITE of her books. Well, that and Pandora.
Excellent storyline! I loved how you worked in townies' actions into the whole idea. :D
YAY FLORA UPDATE COMING!!! I FINALLY managed to get Bluebell to install in my game last night. I kept forgetting to grab the hair mesh, and so thought that the download didn't work because she didn't have her hair. XD
I really like the idea you've gone with for this legacy! I love playing vamps but they always do the stupidest stuff like decide to go outside and play fetch with their dog. At noon. *mutter* My most recent vamp almost killed herself that way.
Oh and NPCs are fine to be bitten, the game will turn them into townies and regenerate a new NPC, the problem is if Crumplebottom is bitten. That will bork your game. There are a few ways to deal with it, I have a hack from MATY (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,1482.0.html) that prevents her from being bitten. The other way is to make your objects.package in program files read-only.

So bad things don't happen when the match maker gets Vamped?

To the game? Not as far as I've seen. Maybe the game will just generate a new one? Or, she'll keep being the matchmaker, just as a vampire, heh.
