Shoeboxchat Tutorial
For those of you who want to come to the chat, but don't know how, worry not! Here is a step by step rundown of exactly how to send yourself to the wonderful world of insanity where I live!
this is going to be very detailed, in case there are people who don't really know how to use AIM. People have been known to download AIM just to get into chat, and I must say it's well worth it. ♥
1.)sign into AIM (or GAIM, or trillian, if you use a client). I hope you're not lost yet. XP
2.)If you don't already have yourself on your own buddylist, add yourself. [[In AIM this can be done by clicking (on your buddy list window) the setup button (+/-) at the bottom of your list, then selecting "Buddy List setup" in oldaim (version5) then just pick a group. hit "add buddy," and type your screenname. In newaim (version6) click the +/- button at the bottom and hit "add buddy." If you're using a client you're probably familiar enough with it to know how to do this.]]
3.)once you are on your own list, right click your name and invite yourself to a chat. (this works in aim and trillian, but I'm not familiar with GAIM or any other clients so you may be on your own.) when the invitation window comes up, find the line that says "chat room:" and the box afterward [[in aim: chat43856342890, in trillian: *screenname* 5463]]; delete all the text in that box and replace it with "shoebox" (without the quotes). send the invitation, and you should be there momentarily.
NOTE FROM SASHI:
