Reputation is a grind. They couldn't do that, because then you'd be out 80+ hours or whatever of straight grinding. God forbid they'd actually have to write quests that made plot-sense.

You think actually SLAYING the elder god would be enough to get you revered, or whatever, with the next faction. But meh.

Well the only way to get faction from this group is by killing mobs in the Mount Hyjal raid instance. But yeah, they're Bronze Dragonflight, or whatever, and so is the dude who sends you into AQ40, so you'd think....

Did Alie tell you, I was in Hyjal for the first time last night. Actually seeing the last mission of Warcraft 3 transformed into mmorpg format is pretty fucking rad.
