...I was thinking about not using this thing until I got shocked, since I never got shocked from the mistletoe thing, but then I realized I had a question I needed to ask. Which is, it's almost New Year's. It's obviously going to be impossible to have temple visits and cook the food and send postcards and dress up and stuff, so I was wondering, how ( Read more... )

I don't know what America is, but I usually spend it with friends.

It's a country. Don't worry about it.

Do you do anything special with your friends? Any traditions or celebrations or special food? That last one especially.

Umm, well I know adults tend to drink a lot of alcohol, but I usually spend it with my friends at one of our houses, just having fun and eating a lot of snacks.

But nothing in particular, huh...?

Well, what kind of foods do you think go well for New Year's?

Man, you're lucky they didn't find you... They caught me'n Minato and stuffed us in these really stupid Christmas get-ups. Embarrassing, right?

I never even thought about New Year's though... There's not gonna be any beautiful girls in kimono... Daaamn, there goes my holiday.

Sounds kinda funny to me... I guess I noticed a few people dressed up at work and stuff, but I didn't really... think about it?

Forget kimonos... it feels really weird to not visit a temple on New Year's. At least for me. I guess Shinji is throwing a party, but...

That's 'cause you didn't get stuck in a dress...

W-Well yeah, there's that too... But usually the girls in kimono were at the temple... So I guess I miss both.

I guess a dress would have been a little much, but I wouldn't have minded being stuck in something cute...

I was thinking about at least seeing if I could ask for supplies to make mochi and so on.

You really wanted to get shocked, hmm?

Well, clearly my willpower failed me since I'm using this right now, but... yes.

Or you were more curious about New Year celebrations than how it feels to get shocked.

That's probably also true.

By the way, do you know anything about it?

That's right, there's no traditional way to celebrate a holiday, here. That's kind of a bummer.

I don't know if it's that, exactly. It just means we'll have to come up with our own traditions.

That sounds kind of fun, but I'll definitely miss going to the festivals.

I'll say. A New Year's not at the temple seems really weird to me.

...

...It's a major holiday. Maybe the most major. Back home. Or, back home in Japan, anyway.

...Don't we celebrate enough?

No one will be forcing anyone to celebrate anything, y'know.

But I think New Year's is different.
