My kid with Asperger’s opened up to me today. Randomly, awkwardly, because that is his way of doing most things, but it was awesome. Asperger’s is a higher functioning form of autism - they don’t let people into their worlds often, and the fact that he did, even a little, showed huge amounts of trust and comfort. That is the classic goodness. It is always it's own reward. Moreover, he sounds like a great kid. I am certain that regardless of what comes, that child will always remember you.
