I was really disappointed to hear that the Simpsons have been signed on for at least another three seasons of episodes. I mean haven't people had enough? The Simpsons had a few glory seasons, then some good seasons, and then after that everything was just mediocre. To the people who are still writing 'The Simpsons': You're not the biting ( Read more... )

I have to agree about Drawn Together. I was totally sold on the first season & eagerly bought the DVD set. Seasons 2 & 3 don't really try to be ironic & original. They pushed to see how far they could go with their whole "hey we're a hip, satirical show that doesn't care who we offend with our jokes" shtick. I loved the 1st season for the reason that they made jokes others wouldn't dare but it wasn't for the sake of being gross, offensive or even to prove a point. It was just to be funny.

Regardless, I did end up buying seasons 2 & 3 on DVD just to complete my set, but I have yet to watch them again. (At least they were cheap.) >_>;;

I can't even find them here! I've looked everywhere for season one but I don't think they even have them in Australia yet. Damn Australiaaaaa!

The only episode (in my opinion) in season two where they were even close to the calibre of season one was where Xandir needs to practice coming out to his parents so they all roleplay this huge scenario with Toot and Captain Hero constantly switching roles. That one was pretty funny. The rest...

Amazon.com has seasons 2 & 3, but 1 is only used. The prices aren't bad, only $15 each, but after shipping to Australia it would probably cost three times that. D:

JEE-ZUS CHRIST, what the FUCK is wrong with people? (I mean the public that eat this intellectually devoid diarrhea up. It's obvious the studio are only after profit, so we can't fault their slimy arses for that)
I detest new Simpsons (probably cause I used to love it so much in the 90's) but it's just so fucking pathetic now, I can't stand to watch it. I boycott REruns, because channel 10 CENSOR THEM.

But you know your television. As someone who hardly watches anything anymore, I find myself agreeing with you on...every single point you made here.

I know, it annoys me that they censor the Simpsons eps on channel ten.

One of my favourite episodes ever of the Simpsons is where Homer gets hair. One of the best parts of that ep is that his secretary Carl is gay and Homer is so stupid he doesn't even realise it. They always cut out the bit where he says "BECAUSE MY MOTHER TAUGHT ME NEVER TO KISS A FOOL." and kisses Homer.

It was one of the best bits of the ep and they cut it out.

There's also that bit in the Lurleen one where he leaves her trailer and then pops his head back in and goes "Oh just in case I wouldn't wonder later - would you have gone all the way with me?" and she goes "Mm Hmm." and he goes "Aw!" and walks out.

I have so many favourite eps I can't even think of them all. I can't pick just one. I know that one with Ralph on Valentines day is definitely in my top five, as is the one where Homer gets hair.

What are some of your favourite eps?

My most noticable cuts would be Scratchtasia, when itchy is chopping scratchy up with an axe...rather graphically. When Bart asks Homer what his religion is, "Uh, the one with all the well meaning rules that don't work out in real life [cut] christianity"

Too fucking many favorites to name! I recently got season 1 on dvd, and was like "anyone who writes this off because of the voices/animation is missing out, and it's their loss."

Nuff said.

Um, other favs, DEFIANTLY the japan episode, Mr Sparkle, the X files episode, 3 men and a comic book, The original Treehouse of Horror & anything featuring Phill Hartman

Also, this episode of Futurama (known all too well by fans/referenced in your post) was "was nominated for an Emmy Award, but lost to The Simpsons."

Ahahaha I always feel like such an old crank when I refer to "the good, old Simpsons" but arghblarg I pretty much hate everything Season 10 or later. Of course this means that the show has been going, what, twice as long as it should have?
Sometimes I accidentally catch part of a newerish episode and realise I've used some quote from it, and feel dirty.

I wish they'd put the first 9 seasons together as the like, Good Old Days Box Set or something.

Also: woo Futurama :D
