So Watson and Mary have a really fluffy sex life.
It's fine, but sometimes Watson craves something different: insert drunk/dirty/sweaty/rough release of basic urges here.

Holmes offers to help out. Not because they are gay, or because Holmes has been secretly in love with Watson for ages, no, how could you even think that? Really, just helping a friend out.

What Watson doesn't know is, Holmes isn't more experienced than Mary either, and whatever they are doing doesn't feel good.
But hey, better this than nothing, right?

Bonus points if they happen to have a rather gentle encounter one day and Holmes has a breakdown, telling Watson he loves him.

(I'm seeing Movie!Verse here, but anything Victorian is of course fine)

tl;dr: Watson likes rough sex but doesn't want to hurt Mary. Holmes offers to help out, pretending to like it.

I may be working on this. I want to write a little more (get to maybe 20k from the 5k I'm at right now) to see whether the muse holds on or whether she was permanently silenced by thesis writing, plus I need to find a britpicker and a history beta... but I just may be writing this one.

Oh, and if anyone knows anyone who could be a Watson-picker that would be great too. I find it so much easier to write Holmes, but Watson's voice is not reading right to me.

Still working on it. Muse seems to be taking switch from scientific writing back to creative well... when I have the time. Had to help several friends move (painting walls, the bane of my existence. A duller job has never been invented!) during the last week so there was actually pretty little writing done at all.

Hopefully I'll be able to give you an estimate or maybe a first installment by the end of the week.

joyinthedance, I'd LOVE some help! I'm pretty sure I've managed to misplace several key pieces of info on Victoriana that used to live somewhere in my memory so... may I please please call on you when I'm stuck and helpless? Please?

EDIT: Writing is going well, that's the good news. The boys refuse to get it on and are talking, and talking, and talking. That's the bad news.
Seems like this is definitely not going to be a PWP. In fact, I'd love for it to go AWAY from all this plot stuff soon!

Thanks! Even at 20k this is definitely going to be a WIP, it's just a benchmark I set for testing myself. Wanted to be there today, unfortunately I had to log around 130 billables this week so I'm just going to drop off to sleep now and write later. Will be starting to post next week for sure

Woah, this is sounding more an more interesting by the minute.
I can't help you with any of these issues, but I'd suggest you put up a beta search in one of the official communites, where more people will read it.

Other than that, I can only say I'm sure a lot of people will love your fic even if the close-range-fighting terms are a bit off. ;D

Umm... could you give me a link to those communities? I haven't written fanfiction since my undergrad days, and back then I was writing in fandoms I could self-beta or had time enough to exhaustively research so I don't even know where to begin looking. Thanks so much!

Sure... as this is Victorian Verse, I suggest cox_and_co. People post fic there, but I have seen beta search-posts, too.
For all things brit picking, you can always try sh_britglish. They also offer betaing.

Thanks so much! I've found beta_search, but a specifically era-bound comm sounds perfect! I'll definitely look there and keep on writing meanwhile.
