I feel like playing more Nintendo before watching Simpsons and Family Guy tonight. Laura and I started drinking early and were fairly gone by 5pm haha. Lamb's Rum is insanely good ( Read more... )

Nice!

I miss you! I have bad (read: angry) news from work! We have a new team lead for Petro... and guess who it is... the girl no one wants on their team... who's only been here a few months...

That's right: Lyn!

Boooooooooo...

I hope your trip is going well. :D Keep updating; I'm bad for commenting but I've been enjoying reading them!

If it's because of Syncrude, that's kind of lame. Okay, maybe it is being sponsored by CORPORATE EVIL, but the fact of the matter is that art needs corporate sponsorship to survive. It's not necessarily "fair" or "good," but it's a fact of life. Also, it is up and coming artists! They need support.

But, yeah, we all have our things that we will not budge on, so I cannot really criticize.

I'm very proud of Syncrude for supporting the arts. They were a huge part of Fort McMurray's art scene, along with a big supporter of post-secondary education and other important things.

It would actually be pretty pathetic if they weren't heavily involved in the community up in Ft. Mac. Can you imagine? "Yes, we love your money and all, but fuck you. We aren't giving anything back. You can all go to hell. But, you know, we love your proximity to the oil fields..."

Why do you feel like Syncrude is some heatless company? Just curious... you're making it sound like they're simply doing it out of obligation, so as to not look pathetic. I complain a lot about Fort McMurray, Alberta at times, and even the specific jobs I've held at the oil sands, but not about the oil sands themselves. I think the concept of someone with no education starting at $30/hr is a bit much; obviously they're about making money and there's certain things they could change, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're "CORPORATE EVIL."
