Beautiful digital painting from the stills! There's so much emotion in each expression.
One little suggestion to flesh out the back of the bottom right Spock's head in full in front of Uhura's arm to show structure to it as well as foreground to background spacing, as done with Kirk. No other part of the piece is as awkwardly faded into the background.

I end up drawing the figures in a sketchbook and then I complete the backgrounds over top using Canson tracing paper and a ruler and plenty of reference. That's also how the background ends up looking crinkled, because I deliberately scrunch it up before scanning it. It adds a little touch of texture that started as an accident the first time when I crunched the paper brushing off some eraser scraps.
Canson has the best smooth transparency of tracing paper for cheap.
