Wow - that was a great read! I can see how you'd be a good writing major. What I love most about your story is that it's the opposite of that of most people who switch majors to follow their personal dreams. I've heard countless stories of poli sci majors or history majors or whatever switching to art, but it was much more interesting the other way around, especially because of your inspiration by world events. So many modern people live in their own bubbles being driven by their own motives that is it nice to hear someone be truly inspired to act by this world. And that is the most magical thing about Obama - that he inspires people to act.
I never considered that before. Well, I did hear lots about people choosing to follow their dreams while in college...but I guess for me there's something about human achievement and our ability to overcome anything that always gets to me. If I cried more easily I'd be bawling over every history book I'd ever touch.
Also...art is easy for me. I see it as a physical extension of myself. Politics, the world at large, history (and historical fantasy), us...it's a different ball game. That kind of stuff grabs my heart and mind (and soul) and never lets go.
Thank you, and yes, it's Obama's fault. He was the missing piece to the puzzle!
