So it ends. Or does it?

Okay, a lot of you added me to read the further adventures of Shay, the monster that has clocked over 2,000 comments. Well, the story, I think, came to a close today. I was called at 7:24 am from Chandler Hospital, and well, she was found dead this morning before the 7:00 am shift. She wasn't breathing, and she had pilfered food wrappers around ( Read more... )

Wow, that's... intense, I guess. Good luck trying to track everyone down.

I'm sorry. :(

I know you might say that she wasn't someone you considered a friend exactly at the end, but still, you were friends at one time, and for quite a while, and I know... friendly concern doesn't just go away. There are plenty of folks in my life who, by all rights, I should not care about, but do, and if I heard one of them was dead, well, it'd affect me, too. Not in a terrible way or anything, but I'd be sad.

I hope you get to talk with her family. And yeah, it will be a hard message to give, but... you'll find the right words. I believe you're a caring person, and the right words seem to come natural when you care.

And I know her family will be glad someone was there and trying to help her at the end. Don't blame yourself; you did the best by her that you could (which happened to be a lot), and sometimes there are some folks you just can't help. It's as if they're bound and determined to self-destruct, no matter how much help you offer.

*soft hug, if you want one*

Thanks. Honestly, I am not sure what I feel about the whole thing at this point. I want to do the right thing and get in touch with her family, and if they want nothing to do with her, I was thinking that possibly donating her body to medical research would be best. I mean, how many places get to study a case like her? It might do a world of good for diabetes research...

There's also those artists making stuff for exhibits like Bodyworlds...
I just got back from a funeral, myself. Strange days.

Surrounded in pilfered food wrappers? I hope the food was good enough to die for...

it really is a shame, but yes, ironic. at least she isn't suffering anymore. i think she is finally at peace and happy.
it is very kind of you to have helped her.

I still want to make sure her family finds out from a non-hospital person and all. I dunno, I just don't see hospital staff being as kind about it as someone she knew could be. I just hope they want her body sent to them or something. I might see about donating it to medical research if they don't claim it.
