So, this month I decided to do once again do Script Frenzy, or as I've been referring to it occasionally, "@#%^S%^ why did I think this was a good idea again
( Read more... )
Whatcha writing? I'm guessing it has to be something original if it's a script? Hmm... curious. I've heard of Big Bang and Nanowrimo, but not Script Frenzy :P
Script Frenzy is sort of a 'companion' to Nanowrimo (even organized by some of the same ppl), except that you have 30 days to write a 100-page script instead of a 50k word novel. It can be something original or a fan work, and it can be for film tv, stage or even a graphic novel. It's pretty neat:
I gave it a try last year for fun, since I enjoy writing dialogue (whether or not it's any good, I dunno, lol, but it tends to come easily to me XD) by adapting the Nano story I used that year (since, unlike Nano, in SF you can use a previous work). It worked out well so I decided to give it a go again this year, except, as you can see... didn't go quite as well >.>
As for the story itself, well, let's just say I'm trying my hand at Sci-fi for the first time, tho I'm not sure how it went, lol. I'm really into the whole sci-fi/urban fantasy genre (and its variations) , so my story ideas tend to be in those kind of settings :)
Oh wow... that does sound neat :) I'll have to check that out. Although I haven't written anything 100 pages long since I was a kid and wrote Mary Sue fics O_O Scary stuff, that :P I like to reread them something and ridicule myself about it because one of my goals is to be a published author. It'll never happen if one of those got leaked, LOL!
I like fantasy more than sci-fi, but I get in to a little bit of everything :) Are you just writing for fun, or do you aim to also become published some day?
I'm thinking of starting work on a Gabriel-centric prompt table in a few but... I have to admit it feels a little awkward having just spoken to Richard xD Very, "Oh yeah... there's a totally normal and sweet guy behind that character." Makes me feel a teensy bit guilty for pimping his character out... WE DO IT OUT OF LOVE xD
lol, well 100 pages sounds really intimidating, but with the particular formatting for a script (font type, indentations, etc) it actually goes pretty quickly :)
I was a kid and wrote Mary Sue fics O_O
Hee! Well, everyone starts somewhere ;) And stuff like that is definitely fun to read over-- I tend to lose and then re-find my old stories at random, and it's fun to read them again and laugh.
I actually would love to be a published author someday, tho I dunno how likely it is to happen-- I've always loved writing, but it's not exactly the most, uh, financially sound profession ever? >.> Someone pointed that out to me as a kid so I'd kind of given up on it (despite others' encouragement), but since trying out Nano, I thought what the heck, I can always try! I just need to push myself to actually write outside of the Nano/Frenzy-type events, haha also, i am easily distracted and not well-disciplined >.>

Thanks ^^ (have you seen the newest eps, btw? I'm always worried about spoiling ppl since I dunno who's at what ep >.>)
I... don't really know how to either? XD There's some guidelines on the website for formatting and stuff, and I got lucky with the word processor on my computer-- it actually has a script template! Between that and downloading some actual scripts to look at, I'm pretty much just doing a lot of guess-work. I don't think there's really a 'wrong' way to do it, unless you plan on sending it out somewhere, in which case the formatting does become important. But this is just for fun ^^
Tracy downloads the newest eps every friday so we've seen them all. I think there's one more that we haven't seen. The last one we watched was with that demon who was helping them locate the guy who could lead them to the horsemen.
In any case, I liked and dislike the Gabriel eppy... He's always amusing when he's around. ...break went too long...>.>.... bye bye
Ah, in that case, I think you're all caught up, actually. There's a new ep tonight and then the season finale is next week (it seems like it went by so quickly o.o)
In any case, I liked and dislike the Gabriel eppy
Yeah, same here-- I liked that he was in it (he's always awesome XD) but was so sad by the end of it. Granted, it's SPN so you never know... *hopes*

Anyway, congrats on how it has been going. I didn't bother to try since I'm not really sure how to write a script. lol
Tracy was going to do it. I'm not sure if she's even written a word though. Stuff keeps coming up. :(
