I know how to deal w/ it in XP, but not necessarily on Vista. On the other hand, it can't be.. that bad. You might need the Thinkpad software to get it working.. or that might be the source of your trouble, if it's installed.
Worst case, run it down tomorrow night, and we can play. They tend to think.. oddly with these things.
I ask because when I got an Inspiron running Vista, it wouldn't pick up wireless - *my* wireless, I could pirate other people's sometimes - and it turned out Vista and my particular router were incompatible. Dell swore blind they were compatible, Verizon swore blind they were compatible, Auntie Google told me I needed a firmware patch, and we've been tickety-boo ever since.
I wasn't clear in describing the problem. The connectivity software tells me explicitly that the wireless radio is off; there's an onscreen button to turn it on, and when I click it the machine ponders for a second or two, but nothing changes.
