FIRSTBORN: Epilogue (at last!)

Nov 07, 2003 04:08

I thought I’d better finish this before everyone forgot what the story was even about! Here’s a happy ending, and maybe a few surprises. Thank you for coming with me on this very unusual journey, and thank you lilybaggins for the inspiration and the little “nudge out the door”.

Wow, what a wonderful ending. And just yesterday I was wondering if you'd ever write an epilogue. I'm glad you did!

I was wondering if I'd ever write the epilogue, as well! Last night I just got all these ideas, and... here we are. I'm so glad you like it!

“Are you saying that Gloria and Mira *own* Mirkwood?”

Snort!

And despite finding that hilarious, you made me cry with this. What a wonderful ending, with Bilbo and Frodo toughing it out in the Shire together. And some of the grace of the Eldar carrying over into the modern Age...

Well, maybe not enough, but that's my pessimism. Let's find some elf-kin to run our country and heal the planet.

Sigh. If only it could be so.

Oooh, I made you laugh *and* cry! That makes me feel very satisfied with this ending.

And over the years, it came to pass that in Middle-earth there were born more and still more hobbits with the starlight of the Firstborn in their eyes and their hearts. They danced and sang, and walked with reverence through the ancient forests, learning and teaching. And so they still do, to this day.

(sigh) If only it were so in our own world as well.

Lovely ending. It's nice to have a story where Frodo can feel peace and happiness on middle earth, even if it's not Tolkien's ending. (Thanks for sparing us the Gray Havens!) And Frodo's love of the children is so wonderful.

Wow! You have handled the subject matter of this rather unusual story beautifully throughout each chapter - with just the rightamount of humour! Yes... the thought of two baby hobelfs owning Mirkwood made me giggle!

A brave step out of canon and into another universe!

Love it!

Frodo is king of Mirkwood, he has a ticket to ride if the kids get on his nerves, and everyone lives happily ever after.
I wish it HAD ended this way!
