After leaving Professor Nadezhda's laboratory, Derek became desperately sick. Jun had been warned, but Derek's physical distress was appalling. And time consuming. She thanked her fate for Jinpei and Ainur by taking the night off from the bar -- and dodging Derek's projectile vomitting

The phone rings, quietly.

Jun came out of the guest bedroom, hastily arranging her robe. She picked up the receiver, put it to her ear and said, "Hello, hello!"

"Jun?" Nadezhda's voice was quiet. "Sorry to disturb you, but I thought I'd call and see how he was doing. I'm sorry I couldn't be around to help last night, but I ended up being Nyarlathotep's pediatrician, and things got rather fraught."

"No worries, Professor. You can call nearly anytime," she said, smiling. She leaned against the wall. And looked to see if Kian were about.

"We're fine. Well...he's fine. I've been taking his temperature. How long before I can tell if it's fever or...a return to baseline human metabolism? Also, I have a fairy child living with us. Could...this be problematic for him? This transition, I mean?"
