This happens in Fushigi Yuugi and Sorcerer Hunters and Sailor Moon, too. Usagi gets beaten by Mamoru and Rei or Seiya has to rescue her, or Tamahome gets hit by a truck and Miaka runs into Tasuki's arms, or Carrot meanly dumps Tira for Chocolat or some other woman and Marron has to pick up the pieces of her weepy little heart. BIG TURNOFF. D:

Meanwhile, all the Miaka/Yui fics I've read have yet to blow up Tamahome or Tetsuya or Suboshi. <3

Oh, Tasuki/Miaka. DX That reminds me of my time in the FY fandom, with all those Mary-Sues bashing Miaka and... it was terrible. =O;;; Didn't have much luck finding Tamahome/Tasuki fics either.

This is precisely why I don't bother with shipping in general. Clichéd, melodramatic tripe of stories that are only served to entertain a romance-starved teenager in the form of a Harlequin pocketbook. If you stop this foolish business of shipping, it would do your life a lot of good.

I admit, I was rather touchy with my SEGA Genesis. But by the time the N64 era came out, I was all for Nintendo--the Final Fantasies just seemed overrated to me.

I always thought more popular yaoi and yuri ships like Jessie/Cassidy and Sonadow had their own individual ways of defeating the "system" the fangirls set for them...

I don't like Riku/Sora for many reasons, but mainly because I don't like Riku himself.
