I'm not sure what it is that make certain storylines 'work' for me, why they're something that intrigues me and makes me want to think and talk about them. At any rate the three that interest me most at the moment (in no particular order).

The original idea was for an addict, an agoraphobic and someone suffering from ADHD to be flatmates. Then at some point inspiration struck and it was changed to a vampire, a ghost and a werewolf. Hence the clear metaphors, esp for Mitchell.
Am loving it for the same reasons you are, btw. And oh, Annie... I love Annie far, far too much for standing up for herself, and for doing The Right Thing.

So people say but I've never believed it. He comes over, in his writing, as a Young Earth Creationist and thus either a Christian or the most badly-educated atheist of modern times.

And Fringe's alternate universe is so amazingly subtly different -- tiny things and yet it must have diverged so long ago (throw away line: "Who's Andrew Jackson?" Does this mean the Civil War didn't happen? They have a black man on their $20 bill...) -- and obviously, too, the Hindenburg didn't crash.

Being Human is perhaps the bravest show EVER. Makes all the rest of them look like complete amateurs (up to and including RTD's "bold" moves in Torchwood: Children of Earth. It's not just killing characters that makes something powerful, RTD...).
