Before I get to the nitty-gritty of this review I have to say that I like that there’s no dialogue in this. I like the stream of consciousness. The whole thing flows really well. I’m not the biggest fan of parentheses writing - I’m more of a hyphen/dash girl, case in point - but you use it really consistently in this to express the thoughts that Elena tries not to think and for that I can get behind it.
She starts sleeping with Damon toward the end of autumn. Everyone must know, but so far, shockingly, no one’s asked her about the obvious shift in their dynamic.Everyone knows that Damon and Elena are inevitable. Everyone. It amuses me that Elena would think that she’s calling the shots. Damon would let her call the shots because he’d know that she needs to. He’s a big ball of feels a lot of the time, but he knows Elena - knows and embraces the parts that Elena sometimes can’t embrace herself - so he’d know that she’d need time.
He may not like it, but he’d know.
P.S. I love how I’m saying all of this as if I know your fic better than you do. Jesus, I’m a bitch.
