Nice essay. I especially like the "dark" and "light" imagery used to describe this pairing. Didn't catch the slashy vibes between them in the beginning, but "Garden of Earthly Delights" by Dannell Lites (can't remember the link, but try to find it if you can, cos it's a great Clark/Bruce story) and JLU with Bats and Supes hugging each other convinced me that it was definitely a pair worth shipping.

I realize this essay was posted ages ago (5 years it would seem, damn I wasn't even into fan fic back then) but I felt the need to comment as I happen to love this pairing and just stumbled across the essay. I completely agree with you about the opposites attract idea. The two of them are ying and yang, they complete each other in a way no one else can ( ... )

Wonderful essay, and it sums up the pairing nicely in a lot of ways. But for more recent recs, you might want to check out World's Finest and World's Finest Slash. Both are still very active journals. For one of the most prolific and finest authors of the pairing, check out Mithen's LJ.
