Touya/Yukito is an interesting pairing in that many fans are willing to accept it - even those who usually despise yaoi. Recently, I watched a friend (a rabid het shipper) post the 100 words meme, adding she didn't do yaoi - except for Touya/Yukito.

Touya and Yuikito - they're like Haruka/Michiru, Zoicite/Kunzite, and Utena/Anthy in a way. Same-sex pairings that, normally, not even anti-slash shippers dare to touch.

Except...

Yukito is so sweet that it's impossible to dislike him..

Male CLAMP fans and CLAMP bashers *loathe* Yukito. *Because* he's so sweet. Sad, sad...

Anyway, excellent essay (as good as your TezukaxFuji one), and GREAT fic recs.

...I have yet to meet a male CLAMP fan... and CLAMP bashes don't count, I think.

Someone actually compared them to Haruka and Michiru last night, so your reply made me giggle. I agree - though K/Z does raise the question of gender, thank to the DIC dub. I have, however, seen a lot of people do other things to Utena/Anthy, mainly because they both seem to be bisexual.

Glad you liked this.... the fic recs were the hardest part!

Actually my brother is a CLAMP fan (I've done well in corrupting him) and he likes Yukito, even though Yukito isn't his favorite CLAMP character. But yes, male CLAMP fans are rare, unfortunately.

Yukito is so sweet that it's impossible to dislike him.

Heh, never met me, have you?

I'm not a fan of the pairing, and this didn't change my mind, but I appreciate your perspective.

I was just happy to see someone else finally write for CCS over here.

The first time I watched it, I watched an "abridged" version of about 30 eps...

It's a fun anime.

Well, I was quite surprised to see my own name here, seeing as how I've never written a definitive Touya/Yuki piece and most likely never will. You and Tam have pretty much taken care of that market niche.

But Touya/Yuki was in my mind the whole time I was writing Scattered Blossoms, approaching the story like Kaho was getting Touya into an emotional 'place' from which he could then get involved with Yue. It's true, they are meant to be. They are light and dark together, more comfortable as a pair than separate. No fireworks, no drama, just... together. Perfect.

When I said 'could then get involved with Yue', I actually meant Yuki. Freudian slip?

I tend to see Yukito as the public persona as Yue.

I like fics that accept the relationship and use it as support. You know I can't get enough of the way you write them.

Thanks for the flattery on T/Y, but I haven't written a true T/Y fic, either... though the Alter Egos series is expected to go that way.

Beautiful essay. I like the atmosphere of this manifesto - it's sweet and peaceful just like the pairing which I think you did a great job describing.

I'm impressed by all the fic recs and sites you were able to find considering how little material there is for the pair. And you should definitely put your works up there - they're some of the best in the fandom.

Also, (I know it's kinda too late for this ^^;) another T/Y fic by Leareth is The Winter's Tale (http://doki3.net/void/oneshots/wtale.html) which is a very cute piece that you might want to mention.

Well, I have you to thank for a lot of those recs! It was very hard tracking them down - so many of the good ones have... vanished.

I like this pairing. It's not that complex - it just is.
