Thanks! I know how you feel, actually, because I didn't start watching Atlantis until "Before I Sleep" first aired and I played manic catch-up in episodes watching. However, I was pretty much a McKay/Sheppard fangirl from the moment McKay started talking "our quarters." XD

This is a great essay. I always wondered why there wasn't a ship_manifesto entry for McKay/Sheppard, considering how big the fandom is.

All you said is obviously true. But what absolutely cemented the OTP status for me was definitely the first two minutes of 2.01. I can not believe that they let Hewlett play it like that and actually took those takes.

Oh my goodness, yes! I decided not to use any S2 stuff in case someone didn't want to be spoiled but gracious...that bleeding, soulful look from Siege II kinda crossed wires with that devastated look from Sanctuary and BAM! -- that's how he looks in the scene. It was palpable, that scene.
