Well, one does have to say that - pun intended - this is going to lead to a sea change in the direction of the Iraq pacification, and I do wonder what kind of means the Navy will use to get it. Any thoughts on how they're likely to deal with things? (outside of sending in Magnum P.I.)

Not to mention wondering what's going to happen to Naviation develiopment. We cashed in the F-14 for the Superbug, and well it's a /decent/ airframe, the F-35 just doesn't have the capability for heavy strike and air-intercept like the older planes do. So I wonder if there's going to be a BIG push for a new twin-engine fighter? As well as the DDX push as well.

Meanwhile, re: Iraq, I wonder if Muqtada alSadr and Michael Moore are related. He's claiming that the Americans blew up the mosque last night, and denying claims BY Al-Qaeda that they were responsible.

Yup, just like world trade centers are an actual US-Israeli plot so the govt's can use that as an excuse to attack the muslim world. O_o

That's the first time I heard of that nickname, superbug, eh? funny. The next big fighter push... I wonder if it'll be a UAV fighter?

I've heard the Hornet called the Bug or the Plastic Bug before, and the E/F series Super Hornet gets the quick appellation Superbug. As for a true UCAV, I dunno, I'd not be surprised if there's some added but not completely replacing the air wing.

Though I bet there's some in the Navy that are gonna be hesitant to go after any sort of really advanced fighter like the F-22, or perhaps...the A-12...

Yeah, there is. What was originally called the Joint Strike Fighter, but is now officially (for the Navy variant, anyway), the F-35C Lightning II. As mentioned before, there's rumors that there's some stuff going into it that the 22 didn't get, and a whole bunch of other stuff that ensures the Navy's "Forward from the Sea" (aka J00 Gotz 0wn3D from OTH!) doctrine.
