Jason always though the saying ‘in the nick of time’ was a stupid one, but when he actually did arrive back to his own Earth in the nick of time, Jason found himself not caring how stupid it sounded. He pounded the pretender him, and convinced Donna over the phone of what happened to take the fake him back to the right Earth. She didn’t sound too convinced until she arrived with the red head Jason tied up, and their Jason tending to Tim’s wounds.

“I’m sorry,” Donna murmured as she securely tied up the red head with her lasso. “We brought back the impostor. It’s all my fault.”

Jason shook his head. “Nah, Donna,” he replied, putting pressure on one of Tim’s wounds. “I lost a fight to him...after that Bruce died on that perfect Earth. No way you coulda known at that point.”

Donna hefted the fake Jason over her shoulder putting a hand on the real one’s shoulder. “I’m still sorry. I assumed a lot after that and... I saw the real you during that trip, and I’m so sorry I let my mind be changed by an impostor. I’ll make sure Ray and I get him back to his Earth.”

“Thanks, Donna.” He paused. “Would you be able to carry me and Tim some place? I should still have safehouse around here that this jackass couldn’t have gotten to. Tim needs to rest off this damage.”

Donna smiled. “I think I can manage that,” she replied, shifting so she could carry Jason and Tim her arms while the fake Jason got to dangle securely from her lasso.

Tim felt groaned. He felt like he had been by a truck, or more accurately, Jason’s fists and knife, over and over again. He should be dead, but he can feel the bandages around his torso and neck. It made him relax a bit until he noticed the room wasn’t the familiar area of that Bat Bunker that had been converted to a medical bay. Tim tensed automatically, trying to figure out his surroundings and a way to get out of here.

“Settle your ass down, Drake. You’re safe here,” Jason’s voice said from the other side of the room.

Tim’s eyes quickly darted to Jason, who was strangely not a red head anymore, but he could have had plenty of time to dye it back. “Why not just kill me?” he asked, his voice rasping. “Why-”

“Because that impostor wasn’t me,” Jason cut him off, turning around to reveal he had a steaming mug of tea in his hands. “I haven’t been here for months, kid.”

“Why should I believe that?” Tim questioned with a pained scowl. “And it’s not like you being an ass and trying to kill me only started months ago. You’ve just been trying harder.”

Jason scowled, placing the hot tea on the nightstand by Tim. “I have never tried to fucking kill you,” he growled. “Just rough you up a bit to teach you a lesson, but why the fuck would I kill you?”

Tim’s eyes narrowed. “Because you’re a crazy son of a bitch?” he offered, trying to sit up. “Now, let me leave.”

“Sure, leave,” Jason replied with a snort. “I’m not keeping you here, but with those injuries, you won’t making it to the door, and you know it.”

Knowing Jason was right made Tim’s blood boil. “And whose fault is it that I’m like this in the first place!?” he nearly shouted before coughing a bit.

“My impostor’s,” Jason replied easily. “And you should drink some of the tea. He did a bit of a number on your throat.”

Tim just glared in response, and Jason rolled his eyes. “You know, I have someone who can verify what I said, if you’re so fucking paranoid.”

“Who?” Tim asked skeptically.

“Me,” Donna replied from the doorway, holding a tray with soup. “I told you he wouldn’t drink it if you gave it to him, Jay.”

Tim blinked. “Donna? What are you doing in Gotham?”

Donna smiled, placing the tray down by the tea. “Well, we’re not in Gotham right now. We’re at my place in New York City,” she replied. “Jason called me, and I found it suspicious, so I flew over to Gotham to check it out.”

“What happened? He can’t be telling the truth...”

“He is, Tim,” Donna said. “Shocked me too, but I had to believe it when there were two Jasons in front of me.”

“Are you sure?” Tim asked skeptically.

“Oh please. He made sure Palmer checked me over to make sure I actually belong here and to find out where the fake belonged to send him back,” Jason answered. “Fucking invasive check up.”

Donna hid a little laugh behind her hand. “So, Jason hasn’t been here since Kyle, Ray, and I returned from that multiverse fiasco,” she explained, bowing her head. “It’s out fault we brought back that impostor, and I’m so sorry for the damage he caused.”

“Stop worrying about it, Donna,” Jason stated firmly. “I’ll fix whatever shit he fucked up.”

“That’s a lot to fix,” Tim said.

“Then it’s a good thing I’ve got you to tell me everything then, ain’t it, Tim?” he replied.

Tim sighed. “Yeah, good thing,” he muttered sarcastically, still skeptical of the situation, but he saw no way out of it.
