a fond farewell to The WB and UPN

Sep 16, 2006 02:45

I'd been bringing this up to people over the past few months, while hanging out, and I'm surprised at how few of you had actually heard the news. Since the network is about to launch in a few days, I thought I'd finally get around to explaining it to folks. At the beginning of 2006, it was announced that the two networks "The WB" and "UPN" would be ( Read more... )

The post above me is in douche code. Also, I read all of this. I do not know why, I do not watch either channel. As long as I am given Top Model, I care not. Bought time someone did something about UPN and it's reruns of The Parkers non-stop.

HAHAH. Hey now, The Parkers was a good show. Not to mention it had Jenna Von Oy, who I'm in love with. But yah, those reruns are syndicated, so they just happen to be on your local UPN because the affiliate there bought them. In our area, the reruns of that show aren't on UPN.

As for WB/UPN, I agree, I don't really watch either channel anymore anyhow. Most of the shows I loved on those channels were long-canceled. Buffy, Angel, Jack & Bobby, etc. At this point, yer right, Top Model is their most unique prospect.

I always found it rather strange that we get WGN over here in Wilmington, DE...why the hell is that?

You guys prolly get the "WGN Superstation." It's basically the same as WGN here, except that it doesn't contain the WB/CW shows that air in primetime (since those belong to another station in your local area). I'm not sure what airs from 8:00-10:00pm instead of those. Maybe more syndicated reruns?

Actually, Im not sure about now...but I know that at the point where I'd switch between them based on which got better reception, they did show the same primetime sitcoms. The only thing that was different was the syndication between WGN and WB17 (the Philly station). But for the most part, I could get my fill of Jamie Foxx (meh) from whatever station I wanted.

Ahh, nice. Yeah, if you got the primetime shows, then it must have been the normal WGN. That's really weird, to get it so far away from Chicago. Usually they have that "superstation" version for anywhere out of our direct broadcast area. That way it doesn't conflict with whomever was the local host of The WB. Is it still like that nowadays? And haha, I miss the Jamie Foxx Show.

HAHA! I don't actually listen to music on my computer, ever. Whenever I make a post, I tend to list a song that relates to the topic, as a joke. I used that one since it was the theme song from Dawson's Creek. Which is funny, because I guess the production company for that show just recently lost the rights to use that song, so the DVD boxsets from season three onward had to use another song instead. Long story, but an interesting one.
