I loved these. <3 But in 49, did you mean "if Gil hadn't been unable"? or "if Gil had been able" because it sort of didn't make sense?

I meant that if he was unable to do one thing, he was less likely to do the other thing. Hmm. I keep reading it, but the meaning stays clear to me?
