I am glad my one comment made you think this much. Are you a college student taking writing-intensive classes?
I think Suikoden 3's supposed connection with ROTK is significantly weaker than previous Suikodens, which were based on Shui Hu Zhuan, and Shi Ji, respectively.
I think it would be necessary to dig deeper with Suikogaiden = Dream of the Red Mansion because there seem to be some parallels, even though I doubt it was intentional on Konami's part.
Well, I've gotten very fond of, and thusly defensive of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and I initially was very ticked at the comparison. The rest kind of came out on its own. In addition, unique Suikoden conversation and ideas are always a plus. ^^
I am in college, but I don't really consider my classes 'writing-intensive'. Perhaps it's just that I don't write enough that these sort of things happen.
I would love to dig more into the Suikogaiden-Red Mansions connection once I finish the book completely and get a chance to play through Duel at Crystal Valley, rather than just read the guide book.
Wait a minute... If there is a connection between Suikoden II and Journey to the West, does that mean that Riou's tiara is utterly intentional? ^_^
