For the past few months, a portion of the Gaspard fandom have been hoping that Gaspard will get hired to play "Edward Cullen" in the movie version, "Twilight" about a girl, Isabella, who falls in love with a vampire, Edward. Very popular teen novel and the first book in the trilogy.

Oh, cool about the casting of Edward in Twilight! I've read the series to see if it was appropriate for my daughters to read and actually enjoyed it, especially as it opened up a lot of discussion material with them. I had no idea who this Robert Pattinson was--I did a search on him and showed my girls the resulting pictures... They were offended, "That does NOT look like Edward!!!!!!!" Of course they will still go to the movie... Me, I'm ok with the casting choice--I mean, no one can ever perfectly match the idealized impression you form of a character while reading a book--how an actor interprets the character is what can bring it to life for the viewer. This Robert is not what I would have chosen, but I'm quite happy to wait and see the results.

I tried to watch the Lars and the Real Girl clip, but it was disabled. Poo. I've heard about this film, and I absolutely love Ryan Gosling, so I really want to go. Reality is I'll have to wait till it comes out on video, then I'll have a 50/50 chance of watching it. Have you seen ( ... )

I had no idea who this Robert Pattinson was

*gasp* You haven't watched the Harry Potter movies? I'm SHOCKED! ;) Pattinson was in #4 and his character, Cedric, was basically the cute, popular, athletic, everybody-loves-him student of Hogwarts.

Do you think Gaspard would've been a better match for Edward, looks-wise?

*checks clip* Stupid clip. I would edit it as I'm sure there's another video out there but knowing LJ, half this entry will disappear into the ether. I've only seen Ryan in "The Notebook" (not counting his teen years on "Breaker High") and I wasn't enraptured with that movie like a lot of people. He blew me away as Lars. It's a must-see. Definitely looking into seeing his other movies now. Besides, Ryan+Ewan=no brainer!
