Jonghyun: Age 20
It had only been thirty-one hours, and already Jonghyun’s supposed-to-be restful visit to his mother’s house for the weekend was over. He had slept for over sixteen of those hours, and helped his mother around the shop carrying boxes and such for the other hours. And, by now, the sun was already starting to set in the sky, and Jonghyun knew that he had to do what he had been dreading: go back to his supposed-to-be-empty dorm room, where someone who wasn’t supposed to be there would be waiting for him. Sweetly awaiting his arrival, sitting on his couch or next to his coffee maker, waiting for Jonghyun to come back home so he could pull him through another troubling and painful sequence of memories.
Jonghyun shivered slightly as he dreaded his return home. He had come to his umma’s house to try to find a chance to rest, be alone, and honestly take the time to think through the entire situation he had recently found himself in. He had really hoped that he would be able to find some sort of way to deal with this maturely. But, much to his disappointment, he was still as clueless as he was when he had first begun. What was he going to do when he got back home and had to deal with Kibum again? How could he still try to be mature about this? He had no idea.
Suddenly, Jonghyun’s thoughts were cut off by the soft feeling of lips planting themselves on his forehead, and the uncomfortable sticky feeling of old-lady lipstick smearing all over his forehead as his mother smothering him with forehead kisses (Jonghyun had always been prone to getting forehead kisses because he was just the perfect height, and most people didn’t like ducking their heads to reach his cheek or lips).
“Jonghyun-baby, go home and get some good rest, huh? I don’t want you coming back here so sleep deprived.” His umma said, as he stopped kissing her son. “Although you know that you can always come back home to me, and I’ll take care of you until you feel better...hun, I’ll worry about you if you’re always in this state. You have to drink more milk so you can grow tall and strong, alright baby? And don’t skimp out on your fresh vegetables, they will make you grow tall.” She added, obviously not giving up on seeing her son grow taller than he was in high school.
Jonghyun only nodded his head slowly, not sure whether he should feel comforted or insulted by being treated like a baby again. His mother always had a way of making him feel like a five year old, and feeling a little bit unsure of whether that was a good thing or not. Seeing his mother was always half encouraging, half humiliating. She would always give him the best of all advice, but the nickname of “Honey-sweetie-baby-pie” was always a little degrading.
"Mnn, thank you, Umma. I’ll start taking better care of myself from now on. You don’t have to worry about me.” Jonghyun said after a moment, looking back at his mother.
His umma smiled and laughed lightly at her good and obedient son, before trying her best to fix the bush of hair that was Jonghyun’s bangs, and smothering him with another sticky kiss.
“Study hard and eat well Jonghyunnie. You have to get good grades so you can come home to me again during the winter holidays. I miss you during the cold seasons.” She said, holding Jonghyun’s shoulders, and looking into his eyes.
Jonghyun nodded again. “Mnn, I’ll be back home soon, don’t worry Umma. I’ve been studying very hard in school, and I’m looking into trying to enter a agency or some sort of talent scout some time soon, and see if anyone will hire me as a performer. I’ve almost got my degree too.” He explained.
His umma smiled again before nodding and hugging her son again. “I’m proud!” She started to say, but suddenly noticed that the bus had finally pulled up to the station and that she had to stop lecturing her son and let him get on before it left again. She squeezed Jonghyun’s shoulders again gently before turning him around, and leading him towards the bus.
Jonghyun half smiled at his umma one more time before taking a step onto the bus and paying his fee before turning around and glancing over his shoulder at his mother again, giving her a quick kiss on her forehead.
“Bye, Umma. Take care of yourself okay?” He said, as he stood half way out of the door of the bus.
His umma smiled again lightly and nodded before signing for him to get back onto the bus so they wouldn’t hold any of the other passengers up for any longer.
“Bye-bye, Jonghyun-ah. I love you. Get some good sleep, and don’t worry about Kibum. My son is a smart boy-I know you’ll figure out what’s best to do soon.” She said, looking in Jonghyun’s eyes.
Jonghyun stopped mid step, eyes wide, for a moment, before looking up at his mother, completely and utterly dumbfounded and confused.
“U-Umma! H-how did you know about K-Kibum!?!” He asked quickly.
His umma smiled softer and more compassionately after a moment, before half sighing.
“I could tell from the moment you came home yesterday. It was the look in your eyes. They seemed so torn and regretful-i-it took me right back to the day that we left to move to Daegu in the first place. When I noticed that his picture was missing from the stair case, and found it on your pillow while you slept-I knew for certain that he had retuned, and Kibum is now back in your life.” She replied, after a moment.
Jonghyun continued to stay completely still, but swallowed nervously. His mother just said that his eyes looked torn and regretful...regretful. How could he look regretful? There was no way that he was actually feeling regretful, but just wouldn’t allow himself to realize it...was there? NO WAY. But...if it was there...he couldn’t let Kibum see it. If his mother was able to detect his feelings, just by looking in his eyes, the number one Jonghyun-mind-reader could read it too. He couldn’t allow that. He quickly glanced back up at his mother and looked her in the eyes.
“Umma! Wh-what should I do!?” He found himself asking quickly, jumping all over his opportunity brought by the fact that he could finally ask someone else’s option on the hard and confusing matter.
Suddenly, there was an interruption of a nasally and annoying voice, coming from the driver’s seat of the bus, behind Jonghyun.
“Excuse me sir, but would you please take a seat or get off the bus already!? We can’t just sit here all day! Not only are you holding up all of the rest of the passengers, but you’re also letting out all of the heater’s hot air too!” The bus driver snapped, quickly.
Jonghyun stopped in the middle of his freakout and slowly turned an angry glare to the bus driver, letting his hotheaded side get the best of him in the hurried situation.
“Yahh! Gimme a break Mr. Angry Bus Driver-Man! I’m trying to talk to my umma and figure out how the hell I’m going to get through a really important situation that can affect the whole entire of my life! Leave me alone!!” He snapped loudly.
The bus driver, a hotheaded man himself, sat less-than-impressed with Jonghyun’s quickly said words, and turned around sharply and snapped right back at him.
“What the hell does your life mean to me!? What does it mean to the rest of the people on this bus that you’re holding up!? I don’t give a crap about some decision you have to make! Take a seat, or get the hell off of my bus already!!!” He snapped loudly.
Jonghyun became even more irritated with this hothead of a bus driver (god, he hated hotheads. They never knew how to handle situations correctly), and opened his mouth to tell off the bus driver again, but was suddenly interrupted with the softness of his mother’s voice, and the lightness of her hand on his shoulder.
“Jonghyun-honey...stop fighting.” His umma muttered after a moment.
Jonghyun stopped his anger and annoyance towards the nasally and fat bus driver, and turned back towards his umma after a moment, softening his gaze. His umma softened before half smiling lightly, looking genuinely into his eyes.
“Don’t worry, angel. I know you’ll make the right choice. You’re a smart boy. Just choose whatever is right for you and whatever you want, and will make you happy, alright, Baby? Don’t worry. I know it’ll be alright.” She said, softly. “Now, hurry and get on the bus so you can get home and get some good rest (and stop picking fights with others boys, baby).” She added.
Jonghyun pressed his lips together tightly in a slight pout and whimpered at that fact that his umma had just left him without any sort of help or answer, but the moment his mother moved away from the bus, the bus driver heartlessly stepped on the gas and sped forwards, causing for Jonghyun to go stumbling backwards onto the (luckily empty) front seat.
Jonghyun growled with anger as he glared up at the bus driver in front of him. This was surely the rudest bus driver he had ever met before, he was definitely going to get him back for this. He smiled evilly as he read the name tag on the driver’s vest. “Hee Shindong...” He growled. "I will get back at you..."
However, Jonghyun couldn’t plot of evil things to do in order to get back at Shindong at that moment, because his mother's words kept making their way back into his mind.
“Just choose whatever is right for you and whatever you want, and will make you happy, alright, Baby?”
Jonghyun continued to press his lips together tightly as the words only troubled him even more. “B-but, Umma! I don’t know what I want!!!” He whined, helplessly.

My Note: This is the 17th chapter of this story. Unfortunately I have forgotten to post all of the other chapters, but if you started reading the this story on my journal, you can find the other chapters on the JongKey community, under Remember Me!?!. Soon I should be able to post a link page with all the chapters' links, but until then, bare with me!!
Other note: I'm so sorry for the late update!!! I've gotten really sick and can hardly focus on writing right now, but the next chapter will be up within the week at the most! Also, sorry for this being a really boring chapter. It just had to be covered sooner or later. I have the next chapter all but done and that will contain the real story progresson and actually have KIBUM in it. Haha.
Also, I don't know why Shindong is in here, he just kind of showed up. (Been listening to too much Super Junior).
Update will be soon! (Maybe even tonight!)
