I've never heard of Hearts of Palm before! I just spent a bit reading the Wikipedia entry on them and they aren't something I was expecting to come canned. Weird. Were they good TASTING at least, if pricey?
This whole thing sounds good! :D I haven't yet purchased liquid smoke and it's been years since I've used it (I bought it once for a school project), but red pepper should always be added to everything. ^__^
