summary: two of my favorite words: dream. love.
You stepped out of the bus, clutched your bag over your right shoulder, and scanned the place where you were standing.
You moved your head left and right and saw people walking, immersed in their own thoughts, clutching their own bags, minding their own businesses, passing you by. You almost fainted at the idea that you were alone in a big big city, and that you knew no one and no one knew you as well.
It was like a blur - a stressful surreal blur. The fact that these nameless and faceless people were drowning you out in the crowd made you feel like you can’t even move a single step, wipe the sweat off of your forehead, even. Yet you knew that you should stay standing steadfastly. This had been your dream ever since you knew how to breathe. And all you needed to do was to turn around.
You realized that you had gotten off at the wrong side.
Your destination was at the other side of the road.
You slowly turned around. Whether you stood still there or you moved around, the people around you didn’t change. They were still walking, immersed in their own thoughts, clutching their own bags, minding their own businesses, passing you by. And then, you saw it.
It was like a shining beacon of light - such metaphor probably emanated from the fact that its windows gleamed as the sun’s rays hit on them. You started walking towards it. Alas, you were a part of the flow. You crossed the road alongside the multitude yet you still feel alone. You felt weird.
The sight of its façade up-close made you want to cry out with so much happiness. You knew deep inside you that inside the confines of that structure, you’ll finally see your dreams unfold right before your very eyes.
Then it happened. You fell hard on the cold pavement. You felt your bones go in the wrong places. You twitched in so much pain. Your closed eyes said it all.
“Are you okay?” the boy who bowled you over asked, worriedly.
“I-I-I th-think so…” you replied in pain.
“Here, let me help you get up.” he offered.
He reached over you. You started opening your eyes. Blurred. Your eyes failed to put the pieces of the picture but they started to come together in one piece.
You looked into his eyes. He looked into yours. You felt time stand still.
This was your first time in city. You were alone and that sucked! For the past few minutes, you were drawing strength from your dream.
Then it dawned upon you. You were no longer invisible. Someone finally saw you.
You smiled.
He did too.
