Honors that Bind

My newest Ouran fic. ^_^ A oneshot inspired by the latest Ouran challenge: prepotentcy. (a state of having superior influence or dominance; passing on more than one's alloted amount of genes to offspring... well, that's a rough defintion, from what I recall of it...)

I chose to do a bit about Tamaki's grandmother, an underexplored character (because ( Read more... )

I read this last night and really loved it, so I made a note to come back and comment. It is so rare to see such a thorough picture of Suou-sama. I also liked your playing with the narrative, I think the non-linear nature and the spurts that don't make sense until the end are nice hooks. She's so villified that there has to be something behind it.

I think she got the bad end of an arranged marriage, as well.

Anyways, this is lovely! Good luck!

This is, indeed, a lovely piece of writing.

All those linear narratives didn't quite made sense to me at first, as you switched from Yuzuru's own marriage to the Suoh Matriarch's marriage and her husband inevitable betrayal. But it's great. It makes more sense towards the end...and I adore your Suoh-sama. You contructed her with such conviction that she sounded so real, as if Hatori wrote her herself.

I also loved the way you interpreted the theme, and the repetitiveness of the word honour. It's wonderful. I'm definitely looking forward to more of your writings.

Keep it up!

Cheers,

Xaki

You did a wonderful job on this. I'm so pleased to see someone do a wonderfully introspective fic with such a minor character. You had her character down nicely, and the ending was a great sense of closure.

Excellent job. I'm so adding this to my favorites.
