I saw a little show about her album release here. For some reason it surprised and pleased me that she is not as shallow and slutty as the female pop stars here in the U.S. Makes me like her a little more, even though she's Japanese-y.
kinda funny, in SF right now, there are ads all over for her album Exodus. it's really cool. after reading that article though...I can't help but feel the same. I mean, here I am in SF working on becoming a "pop star" but I don't really fit what it means to be the american male pop star. thin, washboard abs, blonde hair, always gets the girl. that's just not me. sorry, but when I've been here in SF, I think I've done more soul searching then anything else, and after only 6 months here, i'm amazed how much I've changed...maybe not changed, but just realized more about myself. I too, dropped out of college after a year because it wasn't challenging enough, and even with music now, I wonder if people would even like what I write, cuz most the stuff I do isn't the happy, bouncy slutty stuff of Justin Timberlake or Britney or any Boy Band. after reading that article, I kinda wish I could get ahold of Utada to talk to her, would be nice to talk to another 21 yr old going thru the same thing.
