A little R/T drabbling for the holidays?

Dec 21, 2012 23:50

When I joined LJ almost exactly six (!) years ago, it was so that I could post at the January 2007 event at rt_challenge. And every December after that, there was an event going on at metamorfic_moon. So this is the first holiday season I've faced without a Remus/Tonks event -- and I'm going through a certain amount of withdrawal, lol ( Read more... )

Brevity not being my strong point, I don't think I've ever successfully drabbled in my life. But I'll give it a go. Christmas prompt or two, please. Feel free to make them quite detailed if you like. (IE DO ALL MY THINKING FOR ME AHEM). I think my muse is somewhere in the Bahamas, sipping a holiday martini, right now. :)

Ooh, glad you're in. Note that there's no wordcount limit to this "drabble," lol.

In the spirit of Meta, I thought I would use Christmas carols and objects for prompts. So, how about:
  • Silent Night
  • Christmas crackers
(But using the prompts is optional!)

I have a Britpick question...

Do people read the poem "Twas the night before Christmas" out loud to their children, or is that hopelessly American? Alternatively, is there another beloved Father Christmas story that Remus's mother might have read to him around, oh, 1963 or 1964?

We certainly know it and I'm sure it was read to me by mum or nana at some point so I don't think it would be too unlikely for it to have been read to Remus!

That was the right answer, lol, because it means I can use the plotbunny that hopped by last night. Thanks! :)

Drabble Ficlet is finished! Posted at my journal.

And to All a Good Night (700 words | PG | AU)
Teddy starts asking questions about Father Christmas. The answer he gets is completely unexpected.

Yes! I like this idea :) I've been missing the R/T on livejournal lately... I'm usually just a lurker, but I think I'll contribute this time with a drawble :) woohoo!

I think I love you. (Do note that this will probably be a fickle love, and I'm like to be cursing your name once I actually sit down to write.) Prompt, please! (Coz I'm lazy and you're doing it Metamorphic-style, bless you.)

Yay! Curse away if necessary, lol -- but these can be short and simple, too.

I'm using Pandora to get me random carol prompts, so here's yours: O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree)

Sounds really wonderful! Will you prompt me (general)? Though I reserve the right to waffle back to my own prompt -- as well as employ all other options and excuses listed above. ;)

I'm off to obsess over knitting a striped scarf I ran out of one color of yarn for... D'oh!

Yay! I'm using Pandora to get random prompts, and yours (from a non-holiday 'channel') is road.

Oh, no! ...Can you give the scarf a different color scheme at the edges?

Can you give the scarf a different color scheme at the edges?

I decided to go asymmetrical, which is actually going to make it come out cooler than the original plan--I think...
