Drabble meme

This may be a really bad idea, given my progress so far on my list, but I haven't tried drabbling in a while, and it's so much fun. Plus, this week is Spring Break, dangit. So.

Meme borrowed from mrstater and chococoffeekiss, in honor of International Women's Day:
Name a woman in one of my fandoms and I will attempt a drabble about her.I guess "my fandoms" would be ( Read more... )

My first time writing nearly-grown-up Hermione!

Hermione kept busy. She hunted through her textbooks for the tiniest shred of information. She spent one whole week Transfiguring a beaded bag to hold as much as a small lorry.

At night, though, she lay awake and worried. About Harry, who was already facing so much. About Ron, and the things she wanted to tell him someday.

But at least the boys knew how to defend themselves. What if the Death Eaters came after her parents? For just a moment, Hermione wanted to be ten again, back before her parents knew anything that would put them at risk-

Oh.

Okay, well, this is pretty brilliant. The idea of Hermione creating the beaded bag in her 'free time' makes so much more sense than the pitiful complaint detractors of Hermione make, which is 'how does she do it all so quickly?' Well, you've answered that question - she does so much of her prep work almost as a recreation because she can.

Thank you for this because I'm all kinds of crazy about Hermione and I enjoyed this.

Thank you -- I'm so glad you liked this!

'how does she do it all so quickly?'

Yeah, I've always imagined Hermione getting things ready ahead of time so she has them when she needs them! I don't know if it came through with me trying to stick to exactly 100 words, but this is supposed to be the summer before DH. So Hermione is back home with her parents, and she doesn't have anything to do except get ready for the Horcrux hunt. (Unless her parents are making her be a receptionist in their dental practice. ;) )

Also: this may have been too subtle, but I meant for Hermione to be having a very big idea at the end there...

Was this big idea a trip to Oz + an obliviate? Because if it were that, you rang through loud and clear :)

Thank you again.

Whew! I was having one of those, "what if this is only visible from inside my head?" moments, lol.

That's really well done and shows practical, clever Hermione at her best. Especially the thinking that leads up to the sudden idea at the end, because I suppose she does protect her parents by turning them back into innocent children.

Thank you! With all her color-coded homework lists, Hermione certainly seems to be the kind of person who plans ahead, heh.

I was thinking that removing her parents' memories of the magical world would reset them back to the way they'd been when Hermione was ten or eleven (except for the not remembering their daughter part). This aspect of DH really disturbed me, and yet I can't say I don't understand why Hermione made the decision that she did. (And I suppose it never says in canon that she didn't get her parents' consent to the plan before she carried it out...)
