[Kaleidoscope revision] Colours | 10. Gather Up the Fragments that Remain

Jul 19, 2013 23:01

Chapter 10 of Colours (the first "book" of Kaleidoscope) has been revised and is now up at FanFiction.net.

This is the only chapter from the first part of Kaleidoscope that got more of a rewrite than just a revision. I stewed over this for a few weeks, and have made things a little tougher on poor Remus, but I sort of like the way it all came ( Read more... )

Thanks! And it's sweet of you to reread. :)

I've got two more chapters to revise and post from Book 1, and then my next project will be to finish Book 2 (the HBP part), which means about three totally new chapters -- which I hope to post here before the end of the year. I'm already working on the one that I'm temporarily calling "The First of a Million Times" until I get a real title. And then I'll write the part with Molly's tea and sympathy, and Remus's first confrontation with Greyback... But these are hard chapters to plot out, heh.

Aww, thanks! :) I always really appreciate your kind and encouraging comments. And I'll be thinking hard about what to write for the first HBP chapter next week while I'm on vacation...

Gah, this one's positively painful to read and very well done. I like how you've used breathe as it's so easy to see him, out on his feet but still doing his duty and concentrating on being useful, as that's all that's left to him at this moment. Apart from Tonks, of course. I love the hand-holding being like a lifeline for them both, keeping them afloat amongst all the guilt and grief.

Ah, Remus. You both needed a lot more hand-holding at this point!

Thanks for the kind words! I know I was taking a chance with the repetition of that breathe all the way through the chapter, but I wanted a way to show the Remus was basically keeping himself from completely breaking down through sheer force of will and not a whole lot else.

Ah, Remus. You both needed a lot more hand-holding at this point!

They really did! I think that has a lot to do with how they each behave in HBP; they've just suffered a huge loss (Remus in particular, but arguably Tonks too), and then thanks to Remus's noble-prat act, they'll lose the support of each other's friendship right at the worst possible time. :(

Thanks so much for rereading -- at least this chapter was one that had some new content, heh.
