My best to your father. Hopefully the surgery will result in less pain for him, though it seems a bumpy road to get there.

First thing I thought when the dragon hit the roof was, "Oh man repairs are going to suck." I was wincing at the amount of damage the claws were doing. Maybe it's just a sign that we're not kids anymore. :-)

Good luck to your dad on his surgery.

As far as allergies, you might see if you can get a scrip for Flonase. Mold is my biggest allergy trigger, and while I doubt it's been tested in Katrina spawned mold situations, from my experience Flonase is God. Taken along with an oral antihistimine...nothin's gettin' through that. And they were nice enough to make a nasal spray smell like roses.

Pride and Prejudice is absolutely lovely, now mind you, this new guy is no Colin Firth, but having seen every film adaptation and read the book 5 times, I must say this version is pretty exquisite. As for HP4, I actually thought of you two myself, "gee, that dragon is awfully rude to be causing such havoc!" And yes, Rent is on my list as well.
Make sure you take care of yourselves, and I hope your turkey dinner was delicious!
This too shall pass, and who knows where you'll end up next :) It's all about the journey.
