While catching up on Korra, I noticed that the writing team this season is very different from previous season. Wonder if that accounts for the weaknesses of this season... because sure, first book had its flaws, but they were flaws of a rather different sort, I felt ( Read more... )

One of my issues now is that for all that has happened... Korra has not really grown from her season 1 self. It is kind of irritating to watch.

Yeah, THAT TOO. (And Lin somehow seems to have regressed from her awesome s1 self, but that's another story.)

It's not like they don't know how to do character development -- I thought Wan's arc was very concise and neatly done, and the characters from the original series all went through a lot of growth. But Korra -- it's like they don't know what to do with her/don't know how to keep her hotblooded aspects while allowing her to mature. Spirit World episodes seem to finally be hinting at growth, but who knows if it's going to last or really make any sense. Sigh.
